Steve Midgett Jr. booked after starting brawl during funeral at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church

23-year-old Steve Midgett Jr. was booked on an outstanding warrant from May 10th, 2020. On that day, police received a report from Midgett Jr.’s cousin stating that during a funeral at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Midgett Jr. offered a few words. During the concluding remarks, Midgett Jr. stepped on the podium and began lambasting the deceased. This caused a brawl inside the church, which continued outside into the parking lot. While the police were quelling the crowd, Midgett Jr. told his cousin, “You’re dead,” which placed her in fear.

On February 26, while officers attempted to arrest Midgett Jr. on the outstanding warrant, he resisted, preventing officers from escorting him to the patrol car. Officers commanded several times to stop resisting, but he continued to resist and refused to sit down in the patrol vehicle. Midgett Jr. was taken into custody for resisting arrest and domestic assault on February 26th.

John Wilson Jr. deemed too drunk for Nashville International Airport

43-year-old John Wilson Jr. was jailed on February 26th after not paying his bill at Vino Fiesta Bar at Nashville International Airport. John left Vino Fiesta Bar and was denied boarding with American Airlines for being too intoxicated. The bar manager provided a bill of $38.56 that John left unpaid. Officers retrieved John’s information from the gate agent and contacted him by phone. John told officers that he was currently at the pick-up zone. When officers arrived at the pick-up zone, they observed him standing on the curb near traffic, unable to keep his balance. John was visibly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. John was taken into custody for his own safety.

Imari Claybrooks caught with 192.3 grams of marijuana in her car

21-year-old Imari Claybrooks failed to stop completely before turning right at the red light on 7th Avenue South and Lafayette Street on the afternoon of February 26th. Claybrooks pulled over to the Nashville Rescue Mission parking lot, and as officers approached her car, they noticed it reeked of marijuana. Officers then asked Claybrooks to exit the vehicle so they could search it. During the search, officers located a Kroger bag with a total of 192.3 grams of marijuana split into 16 small bags that were all labeled with different sales prices. Under Miranda, Claybrooks told them she was using the marijuana to make edibles and handed them a small bag of marijuana that she had in her bra. Claybrooks was taken into custody for felony possession of Schedule IV with intent.

Caleb Sanchez caught stealing $46.04 worth of merchandise from Walmart

31-year-old Caleb Sanchez stole $46.04 worth of merchandise from the Walmart on Gallatin Pike North in the early hours of February 26th. An off-duty MNPD officer advised them that Sanchez had been banned from all Walmart locations on two different occasions, January 24th and February 23rd. The loss prevention officer, Tikicee Russell, provided footage to officers showing Sanchez stealing. The footage showed Sanchez entering the store with an empty Walmart bag, filling it with random items, and trying to leave before being stopped by a Wal-Mart employee, Kimberly Warren. Sanchez was taken into custody for burglary.

DUI: Kenneth Moore drives on 2 flat tires, repeatedly asks police to kill him

27-year-old Kenneth Moore drove with two completely flat tires on the morning of February 26th. Officers observed this and initiated a traffic stop. After stopping, Moore exited his vehicle, grabbed an air pump, and attempted to fill his tires, disregarding the officers pulling him over. Moore showed multiple signs of intoxication as officers asked him how much he had to drink that night, causing him to become angry. Then, Moore made an angry face and clenched his fists, which officers believed indicated he was about to attempt to fight them, so they detained him. After officers Mirandized Moore, he kept asking them to kill him, stating that he wanted them to “Put a bullet in my head,” and said, “This would be so easy if you just f*cking kill me.” Moore started yelling at officers when they placed him in the back of the patrol car. When officers informed Moore of implied consent, he replied, “Here is what I am going to do. I am going to attempt to escape, so you shoot me in the head.” During a subsequent search of Moore’s vehicle, officers located four cans of Natty Ice beer, a small vodka shooter, and a half-empty vodka bottle underneath the driver’s seat. Moore was taken into custody for an open-container violation, driving under the influence, and implied consent.

Antonio Woods assaults girlfriend during phone call with her mother

36-year-old Antonio Woods had a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Latisha Kelley, at their South 5th Street residence on the afternoon of February 25th. Kelley spoke with officers when they arrived, advising them that she and Woods had argued while she was on the phone with her mother. Woods then grabbed Kelley’s phone from her, striking her in the face, which left a small scratch on the left side of her lips. Officers deemed Woods as the primary aggressor, and he was taken into custody for domestic assault. When they got to booking, officers found 1.2 grams of a white, powdery substance in Woods’ right sock. Woods was additionally charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution.

Kaleigh Hathaway caught smoking meth in WeGo Central Bus Station waiting area

29-year-old Californian Kaleigh Hathaway, also known as Bambi Fae, smoked meth in the waiting area of the WeGo Central Bus Station on January 19th. MTA security guards flagged officers down, stating that Hathaway was smoking crack in front of everyone. Officers arrived and asked Hathaway about the incident, and she advised that she does not smoke crack. Hathaway explained that she had been smoking “Ice,” a street name for Methamphetamine. Hathaway was detained and, under Miranda, told officers that she had her pipe in her pocket, which had char marks consistent with being used to smoke crystalline, illicit substances. Hathaway was cited for the unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Hathaway was booked on the citation on February 25th. Hathaway was previously booked in Nashville in November 2023 for trespassing.

Carrie Brannock lies to police after picking up person involved in car crash

44-year-old Carrie Brannock picked up an unidentified individual involved in a property damage-vehicle crash on I-24 West on the afternoon of February 26th. When officers arrived, they observed a white vehicle in the wood line near another car that was on fire and were informed that one of the drivers had left the scene on foot, wearing dark clothing. Officers began to search for the driver when they noticed a dark gray four-door Honda parked on the eastbound right shoulder of I-24. The Honda was occupied by a white, heavy-set female with dark hair, later identified as Brannock, in the driver’s seat and a male wearing a black hoodie in the back seat. Officers attempted to slow traffic down to approach the vehicle, but the Honda drove off. After NFD extinguished the vehicle fire, detectives ran the VIN, which returned to a gold Ford Explorer registered to Brannock. When officers called to inform Brannock about her car being in a crash, they reported that she seemed unphased. Brannock told officers her vehicle had broken down around 11 a.m. and that she abandoned it “on I-24 somewhere.” Officers asked Brannock to meet them at the Shell Gas station on Exit 11 to give her the information she needed for the crash report. Brannock arrived at the location driving the gray Honda that left the scene earlier. Brannock also matched the driver’s description and was wearing a black Hoodie. Officers then noticed a strong odor of marijuana as Brannock exited her vehicle for questioning. When Brannock was asked about picking up the other driver from the scene, she started licking her lips and twirling her thumbs, saying she did not. Due to the marijuana stench, there was probable cause for officers to search Brannock’s vehicle. Officers then located muddy footprints on the left rear passenger side floorboard, twigs, and mud behind the driver’s seat. Officers asked Brannock again if she had picked the person up from the crash, and she responded that she had no clue. Brannock was taken into custody for false report.

Donavan Carr throws TV at girlfriend during argument

29-year-old Donavan Morton Carr had a domestic incident with his girlfriend, Dameneke Charles, at her Bridgeway Circle apartment late February 24th. Charles spoke with officers when they arrived and advised them that she and Carr had a verbal dispute that turned physical when he slapped her in the face. Then, Charles said the scuffle moved to the living room, where Carr grabbed and threw Charles’ television at her, striking her in the face. Charles stated that Carr grabbed her by the throat, pinned her against the wall, and held her there. Officers observed swelling on her face and an abrasion on her chin. Carr was deemed as the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for vandalism and domestic assault on February 25th.

Rhonda Goostree deemed too drunk for Nashville International Airport

48-year-old Rhonda Goostree was seen leaning against a trashcan near the C19 gate area at Nashville International Airport on the afternoon of February 25th. Officers arrived and observed Goostree, who showed multiple indicators of intoxication before admitting to drinking. Goostree did not disclose how much or where she drank. Officers escorted Goostree to the non-secured side of the Airport for a taxi since she was denied boarding. When Goostree got into the cab, she refused to leave the property. Goostree was deemed a danger to herself and was taken into custody for public intoxication.
