DUI: Jonathan Yancey jailed after falling asleep behind the wheel at intersection 

25-year-old Jonathan Yancey was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle while stopped in the middle of the roadway near Lebanon Pike and Donelson Pike just after 2 a.m. Saturday. NFD arrived and kept him warm in the back of the ambulance until police arrived. He admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the night, had slurred speech, and was visibly intoxicated. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for driving under the influence. He later clarified that he consumed one Bud Light Beer and one shot of Tequila prior to diving.

DUI: Shawnna Haymon drinks two mixed drinks before crashing into pole, tells police “You tell me what happened.”

25-year-old Shawnna Haymon had a single-vehicle accident where she collided with a utility pole near the Harding Pike and Vossland Drive intersection in the early hours of February 16th. Officers arrived, noticed the extensive front-end damage to her car, and asked if she was injured. Haymon responded by telling officers that she had to talk to her mother and would not answer any questions due to legal reasons. Haymon refused medical services after NFD medics evaluated her, and when officers asked what had happened, she said, “You tell me what happened.” Haymon later stated she was unaware of how she had crashed. Then, as Haymon remained uncooperative, she advised officers that she was coming from work but did not know what time it was. As they interviewed her, they noticed her showing numerous signs of intoxication, using her phone to call her mom repeatedly and demanding a lawyer. She was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car when her friend, Taylar Jacobs, told officers what happened. Jacobs explained that she, Haymon, and her friends came from Kung Fu Saloon near Division Street, where she had two fruity mixed drinks. Officers informed Haymon of implied consent and requested a breath sample, to which Haymon responded by demanding a lawyer. Officers conducted an inventory search of Haymon’s vehicle and located a Glock 42 handgun in her center console with six rounds in the magazine. Haymon was taken into custody for driving under the influence, implied consent, and possessing a firearm while under the influence on February 16th.

DUI: Joshua Ayers drinks 750 ml bottle of Smirnoff Vodka before passing out in vehicle

46-year-old Joshua Damon Ayers was unconscious in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, blocking the roadway on Old Hickory Boulevard on the night of February 10th. NFD personnel spoke with him until officers arrived to question him. Officers asked Ayers for his driver’s credentials, and he fumbled his wallet, needing help locating his license. Ayers advised officers that he could not recall what happened and was unaware of his whereabouts. Ayers also told officers that he just had a death in his family. Ayers then stumbled, exited the vehicle, and fell into a ditch before trying to use the bathroom while speaking with officers. A subsequent search of his car resulted in officers locating a nearly empty 750 ml bottle of Smirnoff Vodka on the passenger side floorboard. Officers took Ayers to a different location to perform sobriety tests, but he refused. After being informed of implied consent, he did not agree to provide a breath or blood sample. Ayers was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Ryan Smith fails to use turn signal after drinking 2 IPAs on Broadway

44-year-old Ryan Scott Smith failed to use his turn signal in his white Mazda CX5 before changing lanes in front of a Nissan Titan near Donelson Pike on the afternoon of February 11th. Officers observed this, initiated a traffic stop, and noticed Smith was visibly intoxicated as they approached the driver’s side. Officers asked him where he was coming from, and he told them he was at the bars on Broadway. Smith admitted this was also where he had two IPAs. Smith consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and refused to provide a sample after being informed of implied consent. Smith was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent on February 12th.

DUI: Kelly Matthews drinks with buddies before flipping his vehicle

29-year-old Kelly Matthews had a single-vehicle accident in the early hours of February 12th. Officers arrived and spoke with Matthews, who advised that he lost control of his vehicle and had driven off the roadway before rolling over. Officers observed Matthews to be visibly intoxicated and asked if he would perform sobriety tests, to which he consented. Matthews then performed poorly on sobriety tests. Matthews was read his Miranda rights and verbally waived them. He also made statements about coming from the bar with his buddies under Miranda. Matthews was then informed of implied consent, to which he refused. Matthews was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Clayton McCool found stopped in the middle of an active roadway

35-year-old Clayton McCool stopped in the middle of an active roadway on Division Street in the early hours of February 4th. Officers observed this when they arrived and asked him to exit the vehicle. McCool’s keys were found on the sidewalk as he told them he had been driving but was unaware of how they ended up on the sidewalk. They observed McCool to be visibly intoxicated as he consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers Mirandized McCool as he refused to provide a blood sample and informed him of implied consent. McCool was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.

DUI: Comedian Chloe Stillwell drinks heavily before colliding with guardrail

33-year-old Comedian Chloe Stillwell collided with a guardrail on Rosecliff Drive in the late hours of February 1st. NFD personnel were the first to arrive and advised officers that Stillwell was very drunk. When officers spoke with Stillwell, she reeked of alcohol as she stumbled out of the vehicle, having a hard time standing up. Stillwell had incoherent replies to their questions, unaware of her whereabouts. Officers tried to conduct sobriety tests, but she was unable to perform them and refused to provide a breath sample. Stillwell was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.

DUI: Andrew Mannella drives into head shop, high on Whippets

When police found 29-year-old Andrew Manella on Tuesday afternoon, he had crashed into the side of a head shop on Gallatin Road with a Whippet canister in his hand. He initially claimed his brakes failed as he pulled into the parking lot; however, security video showed him sitting in the parking lot for twenty minutes before pulling over the curb and driving into the building. He admitted to “doing Whippets” but claimed it was several hours ago. A search of the vehicle yielded a large Nitrous Oxide tank, and a total of four canisters, totaling 4.35 liters of the gas.

Alabama Man Jesse James Reagan charged with DUI after being kicked out of Barstool Nashville

29-year-old Jesse Reagan was kicked out of Barstool Sports Saturday evening, due to his disruptive behavior and level of intoxication. He then returned to his vehicle, which was parked across the street, and was sitting in the driver’s seat when MNPD Officers made contact with him after being flagged down by Barstool bouncers. Reagan was reportedly visibly intoxicated and had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket. He refused field sobriety tests, stating he knew he would fail. He advised he had a handgun in the vehicle, and it was located, along with multiple empty beer cans, a bottle of wine, and a bottle of Casamigos Tequila. He refused all further testing and was taken into custody, charged with DUI, implied consent, and handgun possession while under the influence.

DUI: Joseph Calica drives vehicle into light pole, denies he was driving multiple times

34-year-old Joseph Calica was jailed on January 5th after causing a crash on 8th Avenue South and Broadway. When officers arrived on the scene, the vehicle was wrecked into a light pole, with multiple occupants tending to a passenger who had injuries from the accident. While officers tried to identify the vehicle’s driver, the other occupants changed their stories, claiming a different person was driving the vehicle. After viewing video footage in the area, it was determined that Calica was the driver, although he continued to deny it. He had bloodshot, watery eyes, was unsteady on his feet, and smelled strongly of alcohol. Calica was asked multiple times to present a form of identification and fumbled around looking for it before stating that he didn’t have an ID on him. Officers discovered he did not have a driver’s license when they ran his name. The officers on the scene asked Calica to perform sobriety tests, but he refused and was read implied consent, to which he also refused. A warrant was obtained for a blood sample, and Calica was transported to booking.
