46-year-old Joshua Damon Ayers was unconscious in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, blocking the roadway on Old Hickory Boulevard on the night of February 10th. NFD personnel spoke with him until officers arrived to question him. Officers asked Ayers for his driver’s credentials, and he fumbled his wallet, needing help locating his license. Ayers advised officers that he could not recall what happened and was unaware of his whereabouts. Ayers also told officers that he just had a death in his family. Ayers then stumbled, exited the vehicle, and fell into a ditch before trying to use the bathroom while speaking with officers. A subsequent search of his car resulted in officers locating a nearly empty 750 ml bottle of Smirnoff Vodka on the passenger side floorboard. Officers took Ayers to a different location to perform sobriety tests, but he refused. After being informed of implied consent, he did not agree to provide a breath or blood sample. Ayers was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.
Joshua Damon Ayers of Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on February 10th, charged with DUI and implied consent. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,500, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility.
