Artis Griffin jailed after impersonating a security guard at 404 Bar & Grill

54-year-old Artis Griffin was taken into custody for the impersonation of a licensed professional on May 5th at 404 Bar & Grill. Upon arrival, the police spoke with several witnesses, who stated that the security officers attacked them at 404 Bar & Grill. Griffin identified himself as a security for the establishment as officers observed him patting down patrons, wearing a security officer badge while being armed with a holstered handgun. They requested that he prove he was a licensed security guard, which he could not do, prompting them to ask the managers at the location, who also could not provide his proof of licensing. Griffin was detained for the occurrence.

Simone Babis arrested for interjecting in a police investigation

37-year-old Simone Babis was interfering with police work near The Hilton and Bridgestone Arena on May 4th. Babis saw them speaking with a male juvenile, which upset her because she believed they were profiling him and felt she needed to stand by just in case. She interjected multiple times, asking the young male questions he did not want to answer. Officers told her she needed to back up and that it was none of her business what he was doing. She continued interrupting their investigation, asking if he was in custody and if he wanted her to call his mother, which was when officers requested a supervisor to the scene. When they arrived, they advised Babis to walk away, adding that it was none of her concern as to why he was with the police. She continued to ask, “Is he under arrest?” while ignoring their commands, prompting them to detain her for the incident. Babis was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

DUI: Tamra Phelps crashes her car after drinking Twisted Tea before driving

34-year-old Tamra Skylerse Phelps had a single-vehicle accident late May 4th. When officers arrived, they located her in the driver’s seat, crying and appearing to be very anxious. Officers noticed Phelps reeked of alcohol as she admitted to drinking Twisted Tea before driving. Officers observed a plastic bag with two large, empty Twisted Tea cans and a Styrofoam cup that had spilled on the passenger floor during the collision, which she stated had Twisted Tea in it. She consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and, after being informed of implied consent, agreed to provide a blood sample. Phelps was taken into custody for driving under the influence on May 5th.

Paul Clarke bites ex-girlfriend on neck during argument, tells her “I feel like I want to kill you”

32-year-old Paul Clarke had a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend, Tahirah Hensley, at her Wallace Road apartment around 6:10 p.m. on May 4th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Hensley, who stated that she and Clarke had an altercation over their two children. During the argument, he grabbed her left hand and pulled her off the couch, leaving bruising. Then, Hensley said they started yelling at each other, and Clarke “bearhugged” her, squeezing tightly. Hensley said she bit him on the left side of his chest, trying to get away, and he responded by biting her on the left side of her throat, leaving a visible bite mark. Hensley stated he let her go, and she went to her bedroom, where Clarke followed her. When he entered the bedroom, Hensley grabbed a plastic coat hanger and continued arguing until Clarke “bearhugged” her again, forcing her to scratch his arm with the hanger. Hensley said that before the incident, Clarke had told her, “I feel like I want to kill you,” before saying he was just joking. Clarke provided a similar statement to Hensley, advising officers that he was just frustrated and did not mean what he said. Clarke was deemed the primary aggressor and then was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Kiril Johnson scares Southwest Airlines passengers into thinking a bomb was on the plane

42-year-old Kiril Johnson caused a disturbance at BNA airport around 7 p.m. on May 4th. When officers arrived, they located Johnson and spoke with Southwest Airlines employees, who stated that during a conversation with other passengers, he said there was a “bomb” on the plane. When questioning him, he repeatedly told officers that “The plane to Los Angeles would not be making it safely” and made other statements about the safety of the passengers and the aircraft. Three employees advised that they heard the threats of a “bomb,” and while they spoke with officers, several passengers came up asking if the flight was safe to board. They deployed K-9s to sweep the area, but they did not find anything. Johnson was then taken into custody for a false report.

DUI: Brandon Swann crashes car after drinking at Morgan Wallen concert

27-year-old Brandon Swann was involved in a car accident at Exit 5 on I-440 West on May 5th. Officers arrived and contacted Swann, who seemed confused about how the crash happened. Swann also needed help understanding questions from officers and had to have them repeated to him. While speaking to Swann, officers noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage as well as other indicators of intoxication. Officers asked Swann if he had been drinking, and he replied that he had had a beer at the Morgan Wallen Concert. This prompted officers to request that Swann perform field sobriety tests. Swann consented to the sobriety tests but performed them poorly. Swann was taken into custody and read his Miranda Rights. Swann recanted his statement and said he had two beers at the Morgan Wallen Concert. Officers read Swann implied consent, to which he agreed to provide a breath sample. The breath sample came back as a .155% BAC. Brandon Swann was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.

DUI: Tyson Orr speeds down Rosa Parks Boulevard, tells police he “didn’t realize how fast he was going”

27-year-old Tyson Orr was caught speeding and failing to maintain his traffic lane on Rosa Parks Boulevard on May 5th. Officers had to drive almost double the speed limit to catch up to Orr’s vehicle. Officers then conducted a traffic stop and contacted Orr, who said he “didn’t realize how fast he was going”. Officers then asked Orr where he was coming from and if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages. Orr stated that he was coming from downtown and had only one drink. During questioning, Orr changed his answer about whether he drank or not several times. Orr was then asked to step out of the vehicle so that officers could observe any signs of intoxication. Due to officers finding signs of nystagmus, they asked Orr if he was willing to execute field sobriety tests. Orr consented to the sobriety tests but performed poorly. Orr was taken into custody, where he was read his Miranda Rights. While officers were speaking to Orr, officers noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Tyson Orr was then transported to Booking, where he was charged with driving under the influence.

Alyssa Hunkele steals woman’s new basketball hoop after buying her old hoop on Facebook

26-year-old Alyssa Hunkele was taken into custody for theft on May 5th. On April 4th, Vashti McKinney purchased a new basketball hoop for her child and sold the old, used hoop to Hunkele on Facebook Marketplace for $30. McKinney told Hunkele where the used hoop was located and that she was not home when she arrived to pick it up. Video footage shows Hunkele exiting her car, walking to McKinney’s new hoop instead of the used one she purchased, and loading it into her vehicle instead. She then sent McKinney an additional $30 rather than returning McKinney’s new hoop. Hunkele was later detained for the occurrence.

Roxanne White drunkenly attacks boyfriend because she can’t find her phone

42-year-old Roxanne White had a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Jordan Bohn, at Cambria Hotel on 8th Avenue South late May 4th. When officers arrived, they spoke with White on the 5th floor, who showed signs of intoxication, reeking of alcohol. White stated that Bohn had just attacked her. She showed officers an abrasion on her right arm and marks around her neck. When officers asked White what happened, she said they were in the hotel room, and then Bohn just “randomly attacked” her. After officers asked White to clarify, she stated she did not know but added that he “choked” her. She then told officers that he was in another room in the hotel, where they went to speak with him.

Bohn told officers that he and White fought after they went downtown Nashville to enjoy a show and had some drinks, adding that everything seemed fine and that she had “a lot of drinks.” He said that after the show, she became nonverbal toward him, and then he requested an Uber to return to the hotel. While in the Uber, Bohn stated White had lost her phone, and when they got to their hotel room, she was mad at him for not locating her cellphone. Bohn said she left the room and returned, trying to fight him for his phone until she obtained it to find hers. Bohn admitted to defending himself by pushing her off, hindering her from scratching and hitting him. He added that he wrapped both of his hands around White’s neck to hold her down. Bohn had visible injuries from their scuffle. Officers deemed White as the primary aggressor, and then she was taken into custody for domestic assault on May 5th.

Dayjohnica Johnson beats woman with a can of corn in a sock

26-year-old Dayjohnica Johnson and Shu-Jen Williams had an incident with Jameshia Taylor at Extended Stay America on Elm Hill Pike in the afternoon of May 4th. A resident called 911, stating they could hear yelling coming from upstairs. When officers arrived, they spoke with the complainant, who said he heard three voices yelling from Taylor’s room, which sounded like a “physical altercation occurring,” adding that one of them screamed for help, saying, “I can’t breathe.” Officers then spoke with Taylor, who explained that she had been staying with Johnson for the past month.

She said that they were arguing, and when she was in the bathroom, Johnson struck her in the face with a can of corn, which was in a sock. Then, Taylor said that Johnson threw hot water on her and started to punch her, during which she instructed Williams to help “jump” her. She said that while she was on the ground, Williams walked over and started kicking her repeatedly. Then, Taylor said that Johnson told Williams to get the extension cord, which she did, and then she started “whipping” her with it. She said that they continued attacking her until a female maintenance worker stopped by to check on them due to the yelling. They noticed that Taylor had swelling to the left side of her face, redness around her left eye, and whip marks on her arms, shoulders, and back. Her shirt was ripped and appeared to be wet before she was transported to Summit Hospital, where she advised them that she wished to prosecute for the occurrence. Johnson was taken into custody for aggravated assault.
