32-year-old Paul Clarke had a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend, Tahirah Hensley, at her Wallace Road apartment around 6:10 p.m. on May 4th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Hensley, who stated that she and Clarke had an altercation over their two children. During the argument, he grabbed her left hand and pulled her off the couch, leaving bruising. Then, Hensley said they started yelling at each other, and Clarke “bearhugged” her, squeezing tightly. Hensley said she bit him on the left side of his chest, trying to get away, and he responded by biting her on the left side of her throat, leaving a visible bite mark. Hensley stated he let her go, and she went to her bedroom, where Clarke followed her. When he entered the bedroom, Hensley grabbed a plastic coat hanger and continued arguing until Clarke “bearhugged” her again, forcing her to scratch his arm with the hanger. Hensley said that before the incident, Clarke had told her, “I feel like I want to kill you,” before saying he was just joking. Clarke provided a similar statement to Hensley, advising officers that he was just frustrated and did not mean what he said. Clarke was deemed the primary aggressor and then was taken into custody for domestic assault.
Paul Clarke was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 4th, charged with domestic assault. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,500.
