John Zapytowski jailed after fighting bouncers at Jason Aldean’s bar

24-year-old John Zapytowski was jailed early Sunday morning after a fight at Jason Aldean’s bar on Broadway in downtown Nashville. Security for the venue flagged down nearby Metro Nashville Police officers to report the fight in progress. Zapytowski had been asked to leave earlier due to his disruptive behavior but he refused. As security was escorting him out of the building, he began to fight and assault the bouncers. He was detained by officers and continued to be belligerent. He was then taken into custody and transported to booking.

Broderick Winger charged with DUI after fleeing from crash

Police say 21-year-old Broderick Winger was the driver of a hit-and-run incident that occurred just before 4 p.m. Saturday. Winger reportedly crashed into a vehicle at 8th & Demonbreun and then fled toward 5th Ave South, where he parked his vehicle in the middle of the road near an intersection. Officers made contact with Winger, who was visibly intoxicated, and had four “Four Loko” cans on the floorboard. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, with a stop at Metro General for a forced blood draw.

Luis Chavarria drunkenly tries to fight security at Plaza Mariachi

34-year-old Luis Chavarria was seen in an altercation with security at Plaza Mariachi on December 30th. Upon arrival, officers made contact with security, who had detained Chavarria. Security advised officers that Chavarria was intoxicated, refused to leave the property, and attempted to assault one of them. The security guard did not wish to prosecute. When officers tried to obtain Chavarria’s information, he was uncooperative but handed over his passport after a short holdout. Luis Chavarria was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication.

DUI: 18-year-old Cecil Dodd drinks beer before driving wrong direction down one-way street

18-year-old Cecil Dodd was jailed on January 4th after police observed him driving in the wrong direction down a one-way street. Officers pulled him over on 4th Avenue and James Robertson Parkway and could smell alcohol coming from his person. Dodd admitted to drinking a beer earlier that day. Dodd and his passengers were removed from the vehicle and questioned separately. All occupants agreed that Dodd had alcohol in the car before picking up the passengers. During the vehicle search, officers located several beer containers and single shots of Fireball. Dodd performed poorly on sobriety tests, was taken into custody, and blew a .057% on a breathalyzer. He also admitted to having a vape in his pocket. Cecil Dodd was charged with consuming alcohol under 21, driving while intoxicated underage, possession of alcohol under 21, and tobacco violation.

Charquise Buchanan breaks down door, strangles girlfriend during argument

26-year-old Charquise Buchanan was booked on January 5th for assaulting his girlfriend after an argument turned violent. According to Chevala Southall, she locked herself in the bedroom to separate herself from Charquise, but he broke the door down and continued to argue. He then grabbed her by her shirt, scratching her in the process, and began throwing her around. Chevala had bruises on her neck and shoulders from being thrown around. Once she called the police, Charquise left the scene with her shirt and the door he broke down. When police arrived, Chevala stated that he also pulled her by her hair, causing her wig to come loose. There was a witness on the scene who informed officers that during the altercation, Charquise strangled Chevala until she was forced to intervene because Chevala was losing consciousness. Chevala doesn’t remember being strangled, but all of her injuries corroborate her and the witness’ stories.

Ethan Place physically, mentally abuses girlfriend multiple times throughout relationship

37-year-old Ethan Place was booked on January 4th after his girlfriend reported that he had been abusing her since she moved in with him. Iris Nevers told police that Ethan had been abusing her, but she never reported it because she didn’t think anyone would believe her. She stated that she quit her job and moved in with him back in May of 2023, and he had been controlling her whole life ever since. According to Iris, she couldn’t go anywhere without his permission. He even took away her cell phone, stating that she didn’t deserve it after making a call to his mother and sister, notifying them of his drinking problem and abuse toward her. Ethan told Iris that she betrayed him and needed to be punished. Iris told police she listened to him because she loved him. She attempted to leave several times, but Ethan convinced her to stay by threatening to kill himself. Iris showed the police a picture of her with a black eye dated August 9th. That specific incident started with an argument before Ethan pushed Iris, causing her to fall and hit her eye on a table. Nevers was arrested on August 27th, and when she returned home, he assaulted her again on August 29th, leaving bruises on her arm. Iris also showed the police a letter from Ethan that said, “I’m a miserable person. I’ve used you, abused you, lied to you, hurt you in many ways.” A warrant was issued for his arrest on December 29th.

DUI: Zachary Gibbs has multiple shots before causing crash with his child in the car

19-year-old Zachary Gibbs was jailed on December 29th after causing a crash on I-40. Gibbs told officers on the scene that he lost control after a box truck collided with him in a road rage incident. Several witnesses corroborated his story. Gibbs’ wife and 1-year-old daughter were in the car during the collision. Both were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. During a search of the vehicle, officers located the cap of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s seat. Officers also observed a partially empty bottle of Jack Daniels next to the car. Officers checked to see if the cap fit the bottle, and it did. While at the hospital, officers could smell alcohol coming from Gibbs’ breath when he admitted to having one shot. Gibbs was then asked to perform sobriety tests. After performing poorly, he stated that he had had three shots the night before. A breath sample was taken, resulting in .060% BAC. Given the fact that over two hours had passed since the accident, officers had probable cause to arrest Gibbs for driving under the influence with a child. Gibbs also later admitted to driving without a license.

DUI: Marcos Drube takes Adderall, Xanax before crashing car into other drunk driver

25-year-old Marcos Drube was involved in a car accident with Michelle Rind near 46th Avenue North and Charlotte Pike late December 29th. Officers arrived and asked him for his license, but he refused to speak with them, confused as to why his information was required. They explained that he was in a car accident, and he told them that he did not want a police report about the crash. Drube eventually provided his information as he was checked by medics regarding ear pain. Officers and medics observed Drube to be visibly intoxicated inside the ambulance. Michelle Rind, the other involved driver, was also intoxicated and cried hysterically when questioned. Drube insisted he did not consume any alcohol but admitted to taking Xanax and Adderall, which he claimed were prescribed to him. Drube failed to provide them with a copy of his prescription. Officers asked Drube what caused the accident, and he had trouble explaining where he was going or coming from, so they accompanied him as he was transported to Centennial Hospital. Drube reportedly could not follow the nurses’ simple tasks and would cry when asked to do anything. The simple tasks included giving his demographic information to the registration nurse, following directions on how to get to the restroom, and providing a urine sample. Standard Field Sobriety Tasks were not performed due to Drube receiving medical treatment after the accident. Drube was read implied consent law and refused all forms of chemical testing. Drube was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent on December 30th. The driver of the other vehicle involved, Michelle Rind, was also charged with driving under the influence.

Cierra Duncan pulls boyfriend by hair, punches him in face during altercation

29-year-old Cierra Denac Duncan had a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Jamar Wilson, at her residence on Ponder Place late December 30th. Wilson spoke with officers when they arrived and advised them that he was attacked by Duncan and had partial footage of the incident on his phone. They reviewed the video, and it showed Duncan pulling him by the hair, striking him while on her bed, as Wilson asked her to let him go repeatedly. Then, during the interaction, they relocated to the closet, where Duncan was heard demanding he give her the house key she gave him before hitting him again. Wilson was able to leave, but she continued to follow him. Wilson had a bloody nose, which he claimed was from when Duncan punched him in the face. Duncan spoke with them and said Wilson grabbed her, causing red markings, bruises, and scratches on her. Police deemed Duncan the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.
