25-year-old Marcos Drube was involved in a car accident with Michelle Rind near 46th Avenue North and Charlotte Pike late December 29th. Officers arrived and asked him for his license, but he refused to speak with them, confused as to why his information was required. They explained that he was in a car accident, and he told them that he did not want a police report about the crash. Drube eventually provided his information as he was checked by medics regarding ear pain. Officers and medics observed Drube to be visibly intoxicated inside the ambulance. Michelle Rind, the other involved driver, was also intoxicated and cried hysterically when questioned. Drube insisted he did not consume any alcohol but admitted to taking Xanax and Adderall, which he claimed were prescribed to him. Drube failed to provide them with a copy of his prescription. Officers asked Drube what caused the accident, and he had trouble explaining where he was going or coming from, so they accompanied him as he was transported to Centennial Hospital. Drube reportedly could not follow the nurses’ simple tasks and would cry when asked to do anything. The simple tasks included giving his demographic information to the registration nurse, following directions on how to get to the restroom, and providing a urine sample. Standard Field Sobriety Tasks were not performed due to Drube receiving medical treatment after the accident. Drube was read implied consent law and refused all forms of chemical testing. Drube was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent on December 30th. The driver of the other vehicle involved, Michelle Rind, was also charged with driving under the influence.
