26-year-old Charquise Buchanan was booked on January 5th for assaulting his girlfriend after an argument turned violent. According to Chevala Southall, she locked herself in the bedroom to separate herself from Charquise, but he broke the door down and continued to argue. He then grabbed her by her shirt, scratching her in the process, and began throwing her around. Chevala had bruises on her neck and shoulders from being thrown around. Once she called the police, Charquise left the scene with her shirt and the door he broke down. When police arrived, Chevala stated that he also pulled her by her hair, causing her wig to come loose. There was a witness on the scene who informed officers that during the altercation, Charquise strangled Chevala until she was forced to intervene because Chevala was losing consciousness. Chevala doesn’t remember being strangled, but all of her injuries corroborate her and the witness’ stories.
