Andrew Gifford — high on marijuana, emotional, and crying, during DUI arrest

26-year-old Andrew Gifford was standing outside his gold Ford Taurus on Whites Creek Pike Sunday when officers stopped to assist him with his broken-down vehicle. He was “emotional and crying” when officers arrived, and they assisted him in fixing the batter connection. He volunteered he had smoked marijuana earlier, but officers did not immediately believe him to be too intoxicated to drive, and he was allowed to drive away and continue about his journey. Officers were traveling behind him a short distance down the road when he began to swerve and crossed both lines several times. A traffic stop was conducted, and Gifford was once again having emotional swings, from calm to angry, to crying, repeatedly. He was placed into the patrol car, where he fell asleep. He was taken into custody and charged with DUI. A blood draw was conducted at Metro General Hospital.

Michael Walling jailed after fighting at Red Door Saloon in Nashville

24-year-old Michael Walling was involved in a fight in front of Red Door Saloon in downtown Nashville early Sunday morning. While officers attempted to separate the individual, Walling ended up on top of one of the other involved parties. Both individuals were extremely intoxicated and created a nuisance in the area. Both individuals were taken into custody. Michael had a laceration on his head and was cleared by medics.

Sarah Tunku — too drunk for Teddy’s Tavern in downtown Nashville

45-year-old Sarah Tunku was found on the sidewalk outside of Teddy’s Tavern in downtown Nashville in the early hours of Sunday morning. Officers had received calls of an intoxicated woman lying on the ground at the location. She was visibly intoxicated and had trouble speaking and standing. She refused all attempts of medical treatment and refused transport to a hospital. She was placed into custody and charged with public intoxication. 

Michael Rowland jailed after smacking police horse on the ass in downtown Nashville

25-year-old New Yorker Michael Rowland is charged with assault of an officer after he smacked a police horse on the ass Saturday night in downtown Nashville. The horse reportedly jumped, which placed the mounted officer “in fear of falling off the horse and hurting himself,” according to Metro Nashville Police. The officer was able to corner Rowland as other officers responded and took him into custody for the assault.

VIDEO: Johnie Brewington tased after brawl at Barstool Sports Bar in Nashville

45-year-old Johnie Brewington fought two people in Barstool Sports Bar before MNPD officers arrived after getting a call over the radio about a fight. The officer was flagged down by security, Hannah West, and Nazreth Czeskleba, who pointed down 2nd Ave, yelling, “He went that way!” and “The guy in the yellow!” Adam Druingode, a security guard, told police that Johnie Brewington pushed Nazreth and punched Hannah in the face while inside Barstool Sports Bar. When Johnie was escorted out, Adam said he fought against the security, but they did not wish to pursue charges.

Police noted a welt over Hannah’s left eye. Police rounded the corner of the building, security and Hannah pointed out Johnie, who was in a hugging/pushing match with another man. He was instructed to put his hands behind his back while police broke the men up. Neither complied, but police were able to push the other smaller man away, who then fled. Johnie resisted arrest and fought against seven to eight officers while telling them that he was a veteran and said other derogatory remarks towards them. Police instructed him several times that if he did not comply that he would be taxed, he did not comply, so the officer tased him. This incapacitated him long enough to place handcuffs on him, but he continued resisting. When NFD arrived, they sedated and took him to the general hospital before booking. During the fight with the officer, one was kicked in the knee and sought to prosecute. Johnie smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech.

Kory Sells jailed after drunkenly taking a fighting stance toward MNPD Police Sergeant

23-year-old Kory Sells was drunk and disorderly at Jason Aldean’s bar in downtown Nashville Friday night, according to security at the venue. He was removed from the property after creating disturbances with other patrons. Metro Nashville Police came into contact with him on the sidewalk outside of the bar, where he took a fighting stance and puffed his chest out as he stepped toward MNPD Sgt. Grinder. He was then taken into custody due to his level of intoxication and transported to booking.

Kirsten Almquist found drunk and staggering in a “fit of rage” outside Whiskey Row in downtown Nashville

33-year-old Kirsten Almquist was observed “staggering” on the sidewalk near 4th & Broadway on Friday in downtown Nashville. As an officer approached, she fell and took a seated position alongside the window at Whiskey Row. Officers made contact and described her as “in a state of rage” and reeking of alcohol. When asked if she had anyone who could care for her or retrieve her, she replied, “Yes, in Arizona!” She became verbally abusive and screamed obscenities at passers-by. She was then taken into custody and charged with public intoxication. Almquist was also arrested on the same charge in Virginia earlier in the week before visiting Nashville.

David Hansen charged with assault of girlfriend after leaving Nickelback concert

37-year-old David Hansen became upset with Sarah Forbes on the way home from the Nickelback concert on August 1st for walking too fast or too slow. Sarah told police the next day; she said that he verbally abused her on the car ride home and then continued once they got home. She said he then began throwing her clothes down the stairs and yelling in her face to get out of the house. David then grabbed her by her wrists, attempting to push her down the stairs, breaking her bracelet. At one point, she said that he had his full weight on her restricting her from escaping, and pinned her against the wall, where she hit her head. He attempted to drag her by her shirt out of the door, ripping it, but her head hit the door stop several times. Sarah also said that David threatened to throw her out of the window. Police observed marks consistent with her story and a bump on the back of her head. David was booked on August 11th.

Garrett Herrington jailed after getting lost in his own apartment complex

22-year-old Garrett Herrington was found Sunday on the fourth floor of the MAA Acklen apartments trying to find where he lived for “two hours,” according to police, who found Garrett in front of unit 406 after he told them that his unit was 553. Garrett had a cut on his hand and told police he got frustrated when he could not get into his unit, which he believed was 406. He appeared intoxicated, and several other residents said he was outside in the hallway, screaming and punching walls until his hand bled. He was taken into custody because he could not remember where he lived and caused a disturbance for other residents.

Tourist Tyler Schutte jailed after calling MNPD officer a b*tch in downtown Nashville

21-year-old Tyler Schutte was jailed in Nashville Sunday night after calling a Metro Nashville Police Officer a ‘b*/ch,’ while smirking and threatening to fight. Schutte approached Officer Dean Ferrari near 3rd & Broadway in downtown Nashville and was extremely intoxicated and had trouble standing without swaying. He asked the officer if he wanted “to make a bet,” and the officer declined. He responded by calling the officer a “b/*ch” while smirking and then made vague threats to fight. The officer told the other members of his friend group to assist Schutte in getting back to his hotel or to arrange for a rideshare, but they refused. Schutte was then taken into custody and charged with public intoxication.
