39-year-old Andrew Nguyen is jailed in lieu of a $5,100 bond after Metro Nashville Police say he sexually assaulted a woman in downtown Nashville late Friday night. Witnesses first observed the man kneeling down and looking underneath a woman’s skirt before he then reached so far underneath that he “groped her v—–” according to the victim. The victim says as she turned around when the incident happened he was just standing there staring at her, maintaining eye contact. Nguyen is charged with sexual battery and public intoxication.

| ON 10/22/21, OFFICERS WERE WORKING IN THE AREA OF 4TH AVE N AND BROADWAY. THE VICTIM (AMANDA) CAME TO OFFICERS TO NOTIFY OFFICERS SHE HAD BEEN GROPED BY A PERSON SHE DID NOT KNOW. THE VICTIM IDENTIFIED THE DEFENDANT AS THE SUBJECT WHO GROPED HER.
SHE ADVISED THE DEFENDANT WAS BEHIND HER AND REACHED SO FAR UNDERNEATH HER SKIRT THE DEFENDANT GRABBED HER VAGINA. SHE ADVISED SHE THEN LOOKED BEHIND HER AND THE DEFENDANT WAS STANDING LOOKING AT HER. THE VICTIM ADVISED THIS CONTACT WAS UNWANTED AND WISH TO PROSECUTE THE DEFENDANT FOR THE INCIDENT. WITNESS (JOHN) STATED TO OFFICERS HE SAW THE DEFENDANT REACH UP THE VICTIMS SKIRT AFTER HE KNEELED DOWN TO LOOK UNDERNEATH HER SKIRT. WITNESS (TROY) ADVISED HE WITNESSED THE DEFENDANT REACH AND GRAB THE DEFENDANTS BUTTOCKS AREA. OFFICERS ADVISED THE DEFENDANT OF HIS MIRANDA RIGHTS BUT THE DEFENDANT CONTINUED TO RESPOND WITH IRRELEVANT OUTBURSTS. THE DEFENDANT ADMITTED TO CONSUMING THC TODAY. THE DEFENDANTS BEHAVIOR WAS OBSERVED TO BE VERY VIOLENT WHICH OFFICERS DETERMINED THE DEFENDANT COULD POSSIBLY HARM OTHERS IN THE PUBLIC IF NOT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. |
