Nashville Nurse Catherine Sowell begs to not be charged in DUI crash because she “saves lives as a nurse”

MNPD Officer Lucas Thomas says Registered Nurse Catherine Sowell begged to not be charged with a crime after she crashed into a semi-truck and then a retaining wall Saturday afternoon because she was “saving lives as a nurse” and she could lose that job if she were to be arrested for her own DUI crash. He explained to her that she could be the one harming someone by drinking and driving — to which she stated “I hope you don’t have any family in the medical field” and “I would feel more remorseful if he was hurt but I literally hugged the other driver”. She continued to lie about how many drinks she had and where she came from, changing her story each time she was asked.

Canadian Christopher O’Malley charged with brazen assault on wife in downtown Nashville

48-year-old Canadian tourist Christopher Andrew O’Malley is charged with the domestic assault of his wife at the intersection of 2nd Ave & Broadway in downtown Nashville. Bishoy Malk was downtown when he noticed Tracy O’Malley on the street, crying. As he asked if the lady needed assistance, her husband, Andrew O’Malley, walked behind her and placed her in a “rear-naked choke” (RNC) hold. Malk alerted a nearby Trooper who broke up the assault. Tracy was persistent that “nothing happened”, however, there was a street full of witnesses, including the THP Trooper.

Teenage trio charged in attempted burglary — Bryce Orr, Lesean Shye, William York

On April 4th, Emad Henary called police to report he was watching a live security feed of 3 teens outside his Stop-N-Shop market at 5100 Indiana Ave attempting to break into the front door of the business. Officers quickly responded and located the 3 individuals, identified as Bryce Orr, William York, and Lesean Shye, each 18-years-old. Officers viewed the footage which showed a chain on the front door and the trio attempting to gain entry. They claim the owner asked them to come so they could talk about a “past incident”, however one of the trio admitted to detectives they came to the location to rob the store. Each teen is charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. As Shye was being escorted to the patrol car he fled and was re-captured after a brief foot pursuit. He is additionally charged with escaping custody.

Daniel Caraballo found intoxicated in airport hotel lobby with pants undone

Police were called to the Hilton Airport on Elm Hill Pike after staff complained that 35-year-old Daniel Caraballo was extremely intoxicated and refusing to leave the property. Officers arrived to find him asleep in the hotel lobby with his pants undone. After they woke him up and escorted him outside he struggled to stand on his own and swayed from side to side. Unable to leave him to care for himself, he was transported to booking and charged with public intoxication.

Dallas Gonzales charged in domestic assault of fiancée in Nashville

33-year-old Dallas Gonzales is charged with domestic assault with bodily injury after his fiancée, Kendra Hampton, called Metro Nashville Police to their home this week. She says Gonzales began yelling in her face, asking if she was OK, then grabbed her shoulders placing her in fear of being assaulted. She was able to break away and run upstairs, but he grabbed onto her, causing an injury to her hand. Gonzales was transported to booking and is free on a $2,000 bond.

Florida Man charged with DUI on way to a concert in Nashville — Stephen Reck arrested

38-year-old Stephen Reck had a flat tire and pulled onto the side of the interstate — and a short time later a TDOT assistance vehicle arrived to help the stranded motorist. While helping the citizen, the TDOT employee noticed Reck was visibly intoxicated and notified police. Reck told responding officers he was on his way to a concert and admitted to drinking prior to driving. He would later blow a 0.234% BAC on a breathalyzer.

Joshua Crawford charged after punching & biting boyfriend during bedroom assault

David Jones says his boyfriend, 28-year-old Joshua Crawford, woke him up from his sleep by yelling and screaming at him while holding his phone and asking him about things on it. As Jones reached up to retrieve his phone, he says Joshua Crawford punched him in the face to knock him back then continued to punch, scratch, and bite him. He then escaped to a bathroom, locked the door, and called police. Police documented multiple injuries on the victim’s body and took Crawford into custody.

Justin Dean Hanning-Franklin charged with assault of bouncer at downtown Nashville bar

33-year-old Justin Hanning-Franklin was being escorted out of 305 Broadway in downtown Nashville due to his extreme level of intoxication when he began to fight with staff and attempted to punch one of the guards. He was wrestled to the ground by security and was outside the bar when police arrived. He is charged with public intoxication and the assault of Donovan Scott McManus.

Heather Rose Brinn assaults sleeping boyfriend over Facebook posts

Tim Basford says he was sleeping when his girlfriend, 40-year-old Heather Rose Brinn, entered their shared bedroom and struck him in the head with a blunt object. She was yelling about Facebook posts and throwing objects around the room. She then took his work phone and attempted to run out of the house with it, however, he grabbed her by the arm to prevent her from destroying it, stating she has a history of destroying his belonging. Officers say Brinn’s version of events changed each time she recounted it, and that she has a history of domestic violence incidents. She was charged with domestic assault with bodily injury and is free on a $2,500 bond.

DUI: Christopher Atwood blows double BAC limit after nearly hitting MNPD patrol car while speeding

Police say 25-year-old Christopher Atwood was driving his 2006 Buick Rendezvous over 60 mph in a 40 mph zone in South Nashville after a Predators game this week. At one point he swerved so far into another lane he nearly struck a marked MNPD patrol car. Atwood admitted to drinking several beers while attending the hockey game and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Atwood blew a 0.176% BAC on a breathalyzer.
