22-year-old Matthew Gagnon ended his vacation in custody Wednesday after he punched his father and continued coming at him until his father eventually punched him back in self-defense in a downtown Nashville hotel room.
The family is visiting from Manchester, New Hampshire, and staying at the Hilton Hotel on 4th Ave S. in downtown Nashville. On July 28th, police responded to a physical altercation reported from the hotel room and found the father, Jeffrey Gagnon, and son, Matthew Gagnon. The son was reportedly heavily intoxicated and began to punch his father on the left side of his face, and continued coming at him in an assault. In self-defense, the father then punched the son, who remained combative with both police and medics when they arrived.

Matthew Gagnon refused to provide any statement to police and was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail at 5:51 a.m. on 07/28, charged with domestic assault with fear of bodily injury. He is free on a $2,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
