Richard Pearson attempts to stab girlfriend’s brother during altercation

20-year-old Richard Pearson and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Janique Alicia Simpson, had a domestic altercation with her brother, Jaheim Simpson, at Bell Road on December 18th. They advised officers that Jaheim and Janique always bicker, and today, she threw a key at him and missed, prompting him to throw a water bottle at her. She then called for Pearson, and he ran into the kitchen. Jaheim ran behind him while holding a knife in his left hand, causing Pearson to grab him to prevent himself from being stabbed. Jaheim then grabbed a glass cup that ended up shattering, creating shards that he ended up grabbing to try to stab Richard with. Janique and Richard tried to grab the shard away from Jaheim and cut their hands.

Officers spoke with Jaheim, who stated he was cooking when his sister began bickering with him. She opened the refrigerator, hitting him, causing him to bump the door back at her. She left the kitchen, returned with a water bottle, and threw it at him, so he grabbed it and threw it back. She then charged at him to attack, so he grabbed ahold of her in self-defense. Then, her boyfriend, Pearson, ran into the kitchen and grabbed him from behind, pinning him against the counter and ripping two of his dreads out. Then, Richard grabbed a glass cup and tried to hit him in the face with it, and it ended up shattering, turning into shards that Richard tried to stab him with. Jaheim attempted to hold the shard to prevent it from stabbing him, but it cut his hand. He stated Richard threw him to the floor and ended up cutting his left ankle and chin. Officers observed the lacerations Jaheim sustained, lining up with his statements, and deemed Richard and Janique as the primary aggressors. They were taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Deonte Morris caught by Highway Patrol strangling ex-girlfriend

34-year-old Deonte Morris was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Renee Kertchaval, at Rep. John Lewis Way North on December 17th. Upon contact with Kertchaval, she stated that Morris strangled her while pushing her against the wall, leaving bruises on her neck. She also communicated that Morris grabbed her by the arm, which left bruises on her left bicep. The Tennessee Highway Patrol sergeant who was at the scene when officers arrived witnessed Morris strangling Kertchaval. The sergeant also provided body cam footage of Morris in the act. Morris was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Mykayla Clemons threatens girlfriend with gun over $15, tells her “I’ll Kill You!”

34-year-old Mykayla Clemons had a domestic dispute with her girlfriend, Yarlonda Williams, at Gale Lane on December 16th. Williams advised officers that Clemons was demanding $15 and became aggressive, shoving her. The argument escalated in the apartment complex parking lot when Clemons pulled out a black handgun and waved it around, telling Williams, “I’ll kill you.” Clemons left before the officers arrived. However, Clemons drove back to the apartment complex when they were speaking with Williams. Clemons told officers that she did not have a gun on her or in her car but had a pistol magazine protruding from her right pocket. She insisted that they search her vehicle. So they did, and an all-black handgun was found. Then, Clemons stated that when Williams refused to give her the $15 she owed, Williams and her brother began to beat her up, so she came outside and broke Williams’ windows with the pistol magazine because she was making her feel small. Clemons was taken into custody for vandalism and aggravated assault.

Roberto Cagal-Mozo drunkenly strangles wife multiple times during argument

32-year-old Roberto Cagal-Mozo was involved in a domestic altercation with his wife, Marisela Mateo Alonzo, at East Palestine Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning. The dispute began with an argument over Alonzo driving another man home earlier in the week. Cagal-Mozo was highly intoxicated and began to follow Alonzo around the house, arguing with her. As Alonzo Put their child to bed, Cagal-Mozo slapped her and began strangling her. The situation then de-escalated, and she was able to go to sleep. Alonzo, shortly after, was woken up by him choking her again but kept consciousness both times. Cagal-Mozo strangling her caused multiple red marks on her neck and a bump with bruising on her forehead. Cagal-Mozo was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Andre Johnson drunkenly strangles fiancé multiple times during argument at Baymont Hotel

40-year-old Andre Johnson was jailed Sunday morning after police reported to Baymont Hotel on Northcreek Boulevard for a noise complaint. The hotel manager told the police they wanted the guests removed from the property. Upon arrival, officers contacted Andre, who was smoking a cigarette on the balcony. Officers immediately noticed Johnson had scratch marks on his face and that there was an unmistakable odor of alcohol coming from his person. Johnson seemed annoyed with officers as he explained that the scratches on his face came from his fiancé, Kristen Trantham, after getting into an argument. He then began rambling about moving from North Carolina to Tennessee, but Johnson wouldn’t explain what happened between the two.

Kristen told police that she was visiting Johnson for the weekend. They had been out at a pool hall drinking, and he had passed out in the passenger’s seat on the way home. When they arrived at the hotel, Kristen tried to wake Johnson, but he wouldn’t wake up. She then slapped him in the face to get him up, but he still wouldn’t wake up, so she left him in the car and went to their room. Johnson came to the room shortly after and began yelling at her. He then grabbed Kristen by the throat and began strangling her. She finally got away and went into the bathroom, where Johnson then opened the door and shoved Kristen off the toilet. When she left the bathroom, Johnson began strangling her again, and she fell to the floor. Kristen explained that she tried to hit Johnson to get him off her. He finally stopped strangling her and left the room. Officers observed marks and bruising on Kristen’s neck. Johnson later admitted that he had six beers and a half a pint. He was placed into custody and transported to booking.

Bryan Keach enters ex-girlfriend’s home uninvited, threatens to burn her house down

40-year-old Bryan Keach was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Andrea Hill, at her residence on December 8th. Hill advised officers that she wanted an order of protection against Keach. She stated they have a pending court date involving an assault and that he has been mentioning suicide to her, claiming that he is going to beat her up and that she was lucky that he did not kill her. Hill told him to stop again, and there have been three messages since then that she has not responded to. Then, when she was sleeping, Keach entered her residence uninvited, yelling, waking her out of her sleep. Keach began dumping out her purse and turned on the gas stove, threatening to burn the house down. Officers were notified of the bond condition between the parties, stating there was supposed to be no communication, and they observed the messages Hill provided and the video showing him in the residence. Keach was taken into custody for harassment, aggravated criminal trespassing, violation of a no-contact order, and aggravated assault.

18-year-old Donte Wilson strangles girlfriend for insulting his family

18-year-old Donte Wilson was jailed for strangling his girlfriend at her home on Lincoya Bay Drive. On December 7th, officers responded to a caller stating that her friend, Taylor Sheffield, was just assaulted by her boyfriend. Taylor explained that she had been letting her boyfriend stay with her temporarily and that they had been arguing throughout the day. The argument escalated when they began insulting each other’s family members, and Wilson grabbed Taylor by the head with both hands and threw her backward onto the bed. Taylor stated that when she landed on her back, Wilson got on top of her and began strangling her while she tried to push him off. The police observed that the blankets on the bed were disheveled, and the room presented signs of an altercation. Wilson had fled the scene before the police arrived but was later booked into the Montgomery County Jail on December 13th.

Amber Shanks breaks woman’s hip, elbow during dispute over parking

22-year-old Amber Shanks was booked on an outstanding warrant from August 31st when she assaulted a woman on 18th Avenue. Constance Woolsey told police that she noticed a car parked in a private parking lot behind her building and argued with Shanks as she said she was parked on private property. Shanks then jumped the fence and kicked Ms. Woosley in her hip after shoving her to the ground. Woolsey advised that after she fell, she was unable to get up on her own, and Ms. Shanks stood over her, yelling for her to get up. Shanks then left the location in her black Nissan Altima. Woolsey was transported to the ER. She sustained a broken elbow and a broken hip from being shoved to the ground.

Markeeis James jailed after clapping juvenile with car at sideshow — “Get back or get clapped”

26-year-old Markeeis Antwan James, a Don’t Chase Boyz 615 member, a street-racing crew that actively hosts and attends meetups in the Middle Tennessee area, was “sliding” at a gathering at Corporate Place in the late night hours of April 22nd. James spun his car at a high speed, lost control, and struck David Garcia, a juvenile onlooker, resulting in serious bodily injuries that required hospitalization. James’s participation and attendance at the street-racing meetup constitutes riotous conduct. He was taken into custody on December 12th, charged with riot and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. “Get back or get clapped” is a common phrase used in the street-racing community when someone is too close to the cars performing.

Zuri Lawrence threatens neighbor with baseball bat over loud music

30-year-old Zuri Lawrence was threatening her neighbor, Shanica Rutledge, at the River Retreat Apartments on the morning of March 22nd. Rutledge stated Lawrence came to her front door with a baseball bat. Upset about the loud music she was playing, she then hit the front door, causing damage. Rutledge also provided pictures she took of Lawrence holding a bat as she advised she was in immediate fear for her and her child’s safety during the incident. On March 31st, officers presented a photo lineup where Rutledge positively identified Lawrence. Lawrence was placed into custody for aggravated assault on December 11th.
