DUI: Brendyn Sullivan falls asleep behind the wheel on Broadway

34-year-old Brendyn Sullivan had fallen asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light near 3rd Avenue and Broadway on May 3rd. When officers arrived, they spoke with Sullivan, who reeked of alcohol and showed multiple signs of intoxication. Sullivan consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and, after being informed of implied consent, agreed to provide a blood sample. Sullivan was transported to Saint Thomas Midtown and then was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Hannah Garrison punches security guard multiple times while being escorted out of Whiskey Row

31-year-old Hannah Garrison caused a disturbance at Whiskey Row around 12:10 a.m. on May 4th. Security for the establishment flagged officers down after restraining Garrison and a male who was being resistive. As they approached, officers noticed Garrison being combative and yelling at them. Officers detained the pair for their violent behavior inside the location. Then, officers spoke with Whiskey Row security, who said they observed Garrison arguing with another female inside the bar. Security then told Garrison to leave, to which she refused and continued to bicker with the other party. Then, Garrison was escorted out of the bar, where she started to fight with officers, at one point punching a security guard four times in the head. This prompted him to wrap his arms around her upper body to safely get her down the stairs and out of the bar. Garrison was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

Stephen Cantrell urinates on himself before cussing out police

39-year-old Stephen Parker Cantrell was found passed out and had recently urinated on himself in the parking garage behind Ole Reds on Broadway in the early hours of May 5th. When officers woke him up, he showed multiple signs of impairment, so they offered him medical assistance, which he refused. He declined to provide a statement or speak with officers and was deemed unable to care for himself. While they were detaining him, he became belligerent, shouting profanities and racial slurs. He could not comprehend simple answers after asking the same question repeatedly and believed his civil rights were violated because they did not conduct sobriety tests. Cantrell was taken into custody for public intoxication.

Alan Churchman refuses to leave Rippy’s Honky Tonk, tells police he’s “wasted”

49-year-old Alan Churchman caused a disturbance and refused to leave Rippy’s Honky Tonk around 10:50 p.m. on May 4th. Security for the establishment flagged officers down, advising them that Churchman was belligerent to other bar patrons. Officers observed him yelling and swearing at Rippy’s staff when they arrived. Officers then tried to speak with him, and he initially was shouting at them, getting extremely close to them. Churchman then admitted to officers that he was “wasted” and “very intoxicated” from alcohol consumption. Officers attempted to place him in a taxi to get him home, which he cooperated with until he started being aggressive and exited the cab. Churchman continued to be hostile toward officers after exiting the taxi. Churchman was taken into custody for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Robert Niesporek takes off shirt, threatens to fight police after they take his drink away

26-year-old Robert John Niesporek was observed walking on the sidewalk with an open container of alcohol outside of Whiskey Row in the early hours of May 5th. Police noticed he reeked of alcohol and advised him that he needed to throw away his drink, which he refused. Niesporek then started to drink, prompting officers to take the open container out of his hand. After this, Niesporek took a fighting stance, removed his shirt, asking police, “You want to go?” while yelling and screaming derogatory slurs in their faces. Officers gave him multiple opportunities to leave after being warned he would be detained for his behavior, but he continued to be belligerent. Officers deemed Niesporek a danger to himself or others. Niesporek was taken into custody for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Courtney Webber urinates on airplane seat at Nashville International Airport

44-year-old Courtney Meredith Webber was removed from an aircraft and denied boarding at BNA Airport around 7 p.m. on May 5th. When officers arrived at the gate, an agent advised them that Webber had urinated on the seat inside the airplane. While they were speaking, Webber approached them, using profane language, reeking of alcohol, and swaying from side to side, showing signs of impairment. Due to causing the disturbance and her level of inebriation, officers detained her. Webber was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Patrick Burns lying unresponsive, wakes up and runs woman over

26-year-old Patrick Michael Burns was observed sleeping on the floor, appearing unresponsive near the Entertainment District in the early hours of May 5th. After several attempts, officers woke him up, where they noticed he had a strong alcoholic odor and showed signs of impairment. They allowed him to call friends to pick him up, but he was unsuccessful, so they told him he could not leave their presence until he was safe. Officers deemed him unable to care for himself and called him an ambulance. While they were waiting, Burns started running away through the crowd “in a reckless manner,” posing a danger to himself and the public. He ran into May Paw, pushing her over and causing her to fall to the ground. She sustained a head injury that required medical attention and was later transported to the Hospital by medics. Burns was taken into custody for assault, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and evading arrest.

DUI: Braulie Castillo crashes car on Murfreesboro Pike, tells police he “couldn’t see the red light”

25-year-old Braulie Castillo was involved in a car accident at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Elm Hill Pike on May 3rd. Officers arrived and spoke with Castillo, who admitted that he “couldn’t see the red light” and “didn’t break in time.” Castillo also admitted to not having a driver’s license or insurance for his vehicle. According to law enforcement on the scene, Castillo smelt like alcohol and demonstrated other indicators of intoxication. This led to officers requesting Castillo to perform field sobriety tests. Castillo consented to the sobriety tests but ended up performing poorly. After being read his Miranda Rights, Castillo denied drinking. Braulie Castillo was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, and insurance compliance on May 3rd.

John Forsythe assaults employee after refusing to leave Chief’s on Broadway

32-year-old John Forsythe had an altercation with Delbert Lee Merritt at Chief’s on Broadway on May 3rd. When officers arrived, they spoke with Merritt, who explained how they tried to make Forsythe leave the establishment multiple times. When Forsythe refused to leave, he became belligerent and pushed employees away. Once employees got Forsythe to the dance floor, Merritt picked him up and carried him to the exit. This prompted Forsythe to grab onto the doors in an attempt to stay inside the establishment. Once Forsythe was outside, he punched Merritt in the right side of his face. Employees then took him down to the ground and called for police. Forsythe was taken into custody for assault.
