Metro Nashville Police observed 22-year-old Zeinab Mganga in a white Ford Explorer near Horton Ave. & 12th Ave S. earlier this month, which was reported as stolen, as she exited the vehicle she was ordered to get on the ground and put her hands up. Instead, she began to run but was captured after a short foot pursuit. As she was being placed in the back of a patrol car she kicked at officers.

Though not involved in the original incident, as police were taking Muganga into custody, 19-year-old Abdullahi Adan and 18-year-old Steven Niyirera approached officers and began to yell and scream that Muganga couldn’t be arrested and attempted to interfere as she was being placed in the patrol car. Niyirera pushed the officer back in a fighting manner and would not allow officers to take him into custody without a fight. Adan attempted to walk behind officers and force his way between the arresting officer and Muganga and Niyirera, who were now in custody.

Abdullahi Adan was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 10th, and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He is free on pre-trial release.

Steven Niyirera was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 10th, charged with assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He is free on pre-trial release.

Zeinab Muganga was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 20th, charged with assault of an officer, evading arrest, and joyriding/unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She is free on pre-trial release.
