36-year-old Nicholas Safdari and his wife left their three-year-old child alone at home on November 25th. Safdari left his child at home to pick up some personal belongings and admitted to law enforcement that he knew his child would be alone for more than 40 minutes. While Safdari was out, his child left their residence without shoes, wearing only his pajamas. The child was reported missing around 5:30 a.m. and was found nearly an hour later in a parking lot almost 1 mile away from Safdari’s home. Safdari later revealed to law enforcement that his child’s mother was at the gas station at the time of his child’s disappearance and that this wasn’t the first time they had left their child alone. Safdari was taken into custody and charged with child neglect.
