46-year-old Rawaa Khawaji, 29-year-old John Kadum, and 57-year-old Nick Kadum brutally assaulted their minor relative at their shared residence on Amber Hills Lane earlier this week. Police were dispatched late Monday night for a welfare check on the juvenile male, called in by his concerned employer. Officers arrived and noticed his hair was disheveled, cut haphazardly, had a scratch on the back of his right hand, and had several lumps on his face. He stated that Rawaa, his mother, John, his brother, and Nick, his father, attacked him because he had recently become a Christian and they are Muslims. He explained, in further detail, that Nick and John punched him numerous times and spat in his face and that Rawaa took a knife and scratched the back of his hand with it as they demanded him to recant and say he was Muslim. The minor victim advised that this occurred until the officers arrived, trembling as they approached. Rawaa denied that she assaulted him, but Nick and John admitted to striking him. All three were taken into custody and transported to booking.
Nick Kadum and John Kadum were booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on December 12th, charged with domestic assault, and Rawaa Khawaji was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judicial commissioner set Nick and John’s bond at $2,000, and Rawaa’s bond was set at $15,000.
