26-year-old Ryan Gales was found living in a silver van at a parking lot on Division Street on January 23rd. The caller stated that the suspicious van had a removed rear driver’s side wheel and had been parked there for several days. Officers arrived, observed Gales with a passenger, and had them exit the vehicle. Both occupants consented to a search where officers located crack cocaine. Gales advised that he had drug paraphernalia in his vehicle, and officers located a green submarine pipe used to smoke marijuana, a glass pipe to smoke narcotics, and used/unused needles. Gales had an outstanding warrant in Illinois for failing to appear in court for drug possession, but Illinois did not wish to extradite him. Gales was taken into custody for the unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
