29-year-old Zachary Bonvallet had a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Victoria Gallagher, at his house on 18th Avenue North in the early hours of January 1st. Gallagher reported that she and Bonvallet planned to go to the bicentennial celebration after their New Year’s Eve party but canceled because he was drunk and his friends were still playing games at their party. Then, Gallagher said, around 2:30 a.m., Bonvallet became upset and argumentative toward her, telling her, “I will end you,” so she began to record the incident. When Bonvallet realized Gallagher was recording him, he tried to snatch her phone from her hands. Gallagher ran to Bonvallet’s guest room, attempting to shut the door behind her when Bonvallet shoved it aggressively, causing it to hit her. Gallagher said she then fell from the impact and hit her face on the door handle. When Gallagher fell, Bonvallet grabbed her phone and ran to his bedroom. When Gallagher got up and tried retrieving her phone, Bonvallet pushed her against the bookshelf. Gallagher managed to retrieve her phone and locked herself in his bathroom until he calmed down. Once Bonvallet calmed down, he allowed her to gather her belongings to leave. Gallagher said she did not wish to prosecute, insisting that she only wanted to make a report. Bonvallet was taken into custody for domestic assault on February 12th.
