24-year-old Jonah Flatt had an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Abeni McGee, at her unit in The Flats on Water’s Edge early January 15th. McGee alerted the authorities, advising them when they arrived that Flatt had been threatening her throughout the day, going back and forth to her apartment. McGee stated Flatt banged on her doors and windows, begging to be let in, causing a disturbance. After 15 minutes, McGee allowed him to enter since it was cold outside. Then, when McGee advised Flatt that her child’s father was coming over, he became irate and started screaming. McGee said it was at this time that Flatt took out and cocked his AR-15, placing them in fear for their safety. McGee said she was about to call the police, and then he jumped off the balcony and fled the scene. A juvenile was also present during the incident. Officers observed the footprints in the snow and spoke with several neighbors, who corroborated McGee’s statement. Flatt was taken into custody for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on February 20th.
