18-year-old Lazaro Arredondo was jailed on February 25th after police observed a black Ram pickup truck run a red light and turn left on Trinity Lane. When officers attempted to pull him over, he sped northbound on I-65 until police stopped the chase. Officers watched as Lazaro exited the interstate towards Ellington Parkway. His pickup truck got stuck behind traffic, giving the officer time to catch up to him. When the officer finally caught up with him, he sped off again, gaining distance from the officer before exiting on Hart Lane. The officer followed Lazaro into a driveway on Conviser Drive, where he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody. Lazaro admitted that he saw that officer behind him but didn’t stop because he “got scared.” Lazaro also admitted that he was in town to participate in a street racing group meet-up.
