40-year-old Rodney Cameron stated he wanted to kill himself and his children, aged 10 and 12, at the Hyatt Place Hotel late February 24th. The hotel staff alerted the authorities about this when they arrived, advising them that they feared for the children’s safety, so they separated them from him and put them in a different room. Officers located Cameron, who was unconscious on the ground outside of the hotel, and woke him up, asking if he was okay. He told them he was fine and not suicidal, refusing transport, as they noticed him exhibiting multiple signs of inebriation. The witness, who was bartending at the time, told officers that Cameron was at the bar with his children when he became irate, telling them, “I will kill you when we get back to the room.” The bartender said it was at this time that he had security place his two kids in a different room. Cameron was taken into custody for two counts of domestic assault and public intoxication.
Rodney B Cameron of Chestnut Street in Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on February 25th, charged with two counts of domestic assault and public intoxication. He is free on $2,500 bond.
