40-year-old Canadian Tourist Jason Ronald Denys stumbled off the sidewalk near Broadway Avenue and 13th Avenue South around 10:48 p.m. on May 17th. Officers had made a left turn onto the street and nearly hit Denys. Officers then observed him walking down the I-40 West Exit Ramp, where they instructed him to walk over to their vehicle. Denys approached the patrol car, staggering, bracing himself against the railing. Denys reeked of alcohol while telling officers he was trying to return to his room at the Westin Hotel on Clark Place. Denys could barely stand as he stated he was celebrating his 40th birthday in town and just left Lower Broadway. Denys was deemed a danger to himself and was taken into custody for public intoxication on May 18th.
