DUI: Joshua Thomas has 2-3 margaritas before speeding down I-40 East at 96mph

22-year-old Joshua Tristan Thomas sped on Interstate 40 East, driving at 96 mph in a 70-mph zone on February 17th. Officers observed this and activated their emergency equipment, initiating a traffic stop. Thomas pulled over to the right shoulder on the Exit 219 ramp. Officers approached, advising Thomas that he was going 26 mph over the posted limit, and asked for his driver’s credentials. Thomas told them he was coming from downtown Nashville and heading to his hotel, which was 5-10 minutes away. During their conversation, Thomas admitted to having 2-3 Margaritas earlier in the evening before consenting to sobriety tests and performing poorly. After being informed of implied consent, Thomas agreed to provide a blood sample and was transported to St. Thomas Midtown for the draw. Thomas was cited for speeding and then taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Joshua Tristian Thomas of Inner Bank Drive in Somerset, KY, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on February 17th, charged with DUI. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $3,000, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility.
