Zion Newsom charged after attempting to rob Shell Gas Station at gunpoint

19-year-old Zion Newsom was taken into custody for attempted robbery on May 1st. On March 6th, officers were dispatched to the Shell Gas Station on Charlotte Pike for a panic alarm, where they spoke with Mohammad Hamdulla. Hamdulla advised officers that a lone black male, later identified as Newsom, wearing a mask, tried to rob the store at gunpoint. Newsom was unsuccessful and fled the scene in a white Chrysler. During the investigation, officers obtained phone records, placing him in the area at the time of the incident. Officers also identified Newsom via a previous encounter with police where he was the driver and sole occupant of the same white Chrysler. Newsom was later detained for the incident.

Zion Newsom of Blue Gable Road in Hermitage, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 1st, charged with attempted aggravated robbery. He is free on a $40,000 bond.
