20-year-old Jasmine Slater had a domestic altercation with her roommate, Jessica Bratcher, at their shared apartment in The Edison on April 6th. Bratcher called the police regarding the incident and spoke with them when they arrived. Bratcher stated that Slater approached and punched her repeatedly while she was bathing her two-year-old daughter in the bathroom. Then, Bratcher said she pushed Slater away from her child, and the scuffle continued into the bedroom. Slater then struck her multiple times and left after telling her, “We can run it back.” Officers observed Bratcher sustained scratches and redness to the left side of her face as well as slight swelling to the right side. She added that her glasses had broken during the fight. The police called Slater, who advised that she and Bratcher argued over rent. During their argument, Slater saw Bratcher put her hands up, so she assumed they would fight. This prompted Slater to start fighting with Bratcher. Slater said the fight happened in the bathroom and that her brother was there during the incident. Slater also said she did not have any injuries and that they were family, so they were allowed to fight. Slater was taken into custody for domestic assault.
